Casa Zegna
Part of Fondazione Zegna, Casa Zegna is a historical archive and cultural centre in Trivero Valdilana, in the province of Biella. Located inside the Zegna Wool Mill, in a 1930s building that was once the family’s home, a new “archive-museum” concept has been developed. The multi-purpose space is an extraordinary synthesis of history and experience, while at the same time acting as crucible of new ideas merging tradition with transformation. Hosting a permanent exhibition dedicated to the history and development of the brand and this year updated to celebrate the 110th Anniversary as well as several educational activities, Casa Zegna’s historical artefacts, records and visual documentation reveal the Zegna family’s commitment to quality, continuous innovation, as well as social and environmental responsibility.
The Casa Zegna archive gathers, preserves and studies the Zegna Group’s history from its origins to nowadays:
- 30.000 fabric swatches
- 10.000 architectural plans
- 100.000 phototypes
- 3.000 textile sample books
- 1.000 metres of paper documents
- 2.5000 films from the 1920s to nowadays
- 1.800 books

For information on upcoming exhibitions please visit Casa Zegna.
All' Aperto
All’Aperto is a contemporary art project curated by Andrea Zegna, third generation of the family, and Barbara Casavecchia. Established in 2008 with the aim of broadening access to contemporary art and its values, the project supports the realisation of a series of site-specific public artworks within Oasi Zegna that are aimed at the local community and all visitors. The project features a series of permanent “made to measure” artworks that address the community and give a new focus to places familiar to inhabitants, as well as providing new itineraries for exploring this territory.
All’Aperto has commissioned public works from artists of international renown. A few of the artists include Daniel Buren, who framed the panoramic terraces of the Lanificio Zegna with “The Coloured Weathervanes,” a line of flags in seven colours that optically meld into a single, but ever-changing iridescent rainbow. Alberto Garutti, who mapped out the territory and sought the involvement of local people by means of an original catalyst: the town’s dogs. The outcome was “Dedicated to the people who will talk about it as they sit here”, a series of 12 concrete benches scattered around the town. And Dan Graham, who unveiled “Two Way Mirror / Hedge Arabesque”, a spectacular pavilion in steel and two-way mirror glass (both transparent and reflective), located in Oasi Zegna’s Valley of Rhododendrons.
Fondazione Zegna and FAI
Fondazione Zegna, in collaboration with Fondo Ambiente Italiano (FAI), has been involved to help rebuild, restore and rehabilitate the Punta Mesco, within the historic Cinque Terre National Park. This Italian treasure has faced serious erosion and sliding baselines due to climate change. The goal has been to protect this UNESCO heritage site and guarantee its environmentally sustainable future. This initiative aligns with our “green thought” and ongoing natural conservation work in Oasi Zegna since 1910. Thanks to the contribution of Fondazione Zegna, Podere Case Lovara in Punta Mesco reopened to the public in June 2016.
The Fondazione Zegna and FAI share the same mission to promote a culture of respect for the nature, art, history and traditions of Italy, as well as protect a heritage that is a fundamental part of our roots and identity. Together, the two foundations have saved and given new life to splendid treasures of the Italian landscape such as Bosco di San Francesco in Assisi, Castello di Masino in Caravino, and Villa Della Porta Bozzolo in Casalzuigno.
The ReShape Model
Launched in partnership with the social cooperative ‘Filo da Tessere’, the ReShape Model is Fondazione Zegna’s initiative to improve the prospects of young people in the Italian province of Biella. Since 2016, it has helped individuals foster their professional skills and passions, as well as establish connections with local companies, creating future educational and working opportunities.
The ReShape Model provides a comprehensive enrichment programme to those 18 to 29 years old that ranges from hands-on experience to professional advice and planning. This includes workshops and ‘on-the-job’ training, as well as CV development and organisation of job placements. The ReShape Model’s initiatives have seen great success in contrasting youth unemployment and the rise of young adults who are dependent on their families. Fondazione Zegna will continue to develop and expand this initiative, ensuring the brightest future for the people of its community, as well as Biella’s welfare, culture, and environment.
Zegna Forest
Zegna Forest is a new long-term project being developed in concert with experts on this territory, Territorium (a professional partnership) and illustrious figures like the landscape architect Paolo Pejrone. The first phase was begun in February 2020 with selective felling in parts of Oasi Zegna (totaling 16 hectares) showing particular problems and will be completed by the end of the summer. The objective, once the woods have been thinned out, is to gradually introduce new tree species better suited to the current climatic conditions. In the autumn, we will start planting new trees to replace a portion of the conifers. Every phase of the project is being documented with text and images for an exhibition to be produced together with FAI Fondo Ambiente Italiano, which has contributed with its own vision of the state of Italy’s forests.
Planting a tree may seem a tiny thing but it’s a huge gesture that symbolizes hope, the passing of the baton from one generation to the next, it represents the continuity of life.
